If you suffer from central diabetes insipidus, you may not require medical treatment for your condition. Symptoms of central diabetes insipidus is considered mild or severe if you produce about three to four liters of urine for 24 hours.

If this is the case, you may be able to relieve the symptoms by increasing the amount of water you drink to avoid dehydration. Physician or endocrinologist (hormone specialist in conditions) may advise you to drink plenty of water every day, usually at least 2.5 liters.

However, if worse, drinking water may not be enough to cope with your symptoms. For example, your condition is due to deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH), doctor or endocrinologist may prescribe a drug known as desmopressin.
