Introduction to Diabetes

What Is Diabetes?

Disease in which the body is unable to convert glucose (sugar) into energy called diabetes or diabetes mellitus. As we know Glucose is the main source of energy for our bodies. When food is digested is converted into fats, protein, or carbohydrate. Foods that affect blood sugar are called carbohydrates. Carbohydrates, when ingested, turns into glucose. Examples of some carbohydrates: bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, corn, fruit, and dairy products. someone who has this disease should eat carbohydrates but should but must do so in moderation.

In order to transfer glucose from the blood into the cells, hormones - insulin is needed. Insulin is produced by beta cells in the pancreas (the organ that produces insulin). Someone with diabetes, this process is disrupted, and occurs when the pancreas fails to produce sufficient amounts of insulin deficiency either absolute or relative, or produced insufficient insulin or the insulin does not function correctly. Therefore, it will cause an increase in blood sugar when checked.

Diabetes is actually not a scary thing when we already know the symptoms and carry out treatment or therapy, sometimes our ignorance that makes this disease so dangerous. some kinds of diabetes like tipe 1, tipe 2, diabetes gestational, and diabetes insipidus.
